Biography

Overview

Derick Wallace is a real estate attorney working on commercial real estate transactions involving development, land use, acquisitions, dispositions, and housing. Based in Washington DC, Derick handles the full range of research, due diligence, contract review, negotiation strategies, and transactional support for clients.

Derick’s experience includes working as a summer associate with a large law firm, writing memorandum on equitable adjustments, voting rights violations and efforts clauses. He also is experienced drafting discovery requests and memorandum for service by publication and summary court opinions. As a legal intern for a Washington DC law firm, Derick researched and reported on the Paycheck Protection Program and Contract Disputes Act.

A tireless advocate for equity and inclusion, Derick served as the President of the Black Law Students Association, managing a board of sixteen people and executing programming for black students. While at Northwestern, Derick founded and led The Collective, an organization focused on improving the black male student experience and developed a framework for mentorship between black first-year students and upperclassmen.
